Ajay (Mahesh Babu), an upcoming Kabbadi champion rescues Swapna (Bhoomika Chawla) from the clutches of a ruthless factionist leader Obul Reddy (Prakash Raj), who is obsessed with the idea of marrying her. Ajay is the son of a Assistant Commissioner of Police (Mukesh Rishi). Obul Reddy kills Swapna's brothers (Achyut) when she rejects his proposal. Swapna’s father, saddened by his sons' deaths, asks Swapna to run away and lead a peaceful life at her uncle's place in the U.S. by giving her the necessary certificates and money. Obul Reddy catches her when she gets into one of the lorries owned by him. At this juncture, Ajay - who is in Kurnool for a Kabaddi tournament - rescues Swapna from Obul Reddy and brings her to Hyderabad. Ajay takes her to his house and hides her in his room. Ajay, with the help of friends, arranges passport, visa and flight tickets for Swapna. Meanwhile, the Home Minister (Rajan P. Dev), who happens to be Obul Reddy's brother, asks ACP to search for Swapna and the apparent kidnapper. When ACP realizes that it's his own son who did the crime, Ajay and Swapna run away and hide in Charminar. This forms an integral part of the story. Whether Ajay is able to achieve his Kabbadi target and reunite with Swapna is the climax of the story.
