After becoming friends in college, Kate and William started a romantic relationship. And with that relationship came constant media attention and speculation. Legal action was threatened against the paparazzi by both parties on multiple occasions. It was also reported that the couple split in 2007, but they announced their engagement in October 2010. Prince William popped the question while on a trip to Kenya. He gave Kate his late mother's (Princess Diana) engagement ring. The couple got married on April 29, 2011 at Westminster Abbey in London. they are expecting their first child summer 2013
