Marc Almond (born Peter Mark Sinclair Almond on 9 July 1957) is an English singer-songwriter and musician, who originally found fame as half of the seminal synthpop/New Wave duo Soft Cell. Including his time with Soft Cell, he has sold over 30 million records worldwide. He has had numerous worldwide hits, including multi-million bestsellers "Tainted Love" and "Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart", both of which reached the number one position in charts all over the world. Soft Cell's debut album Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret achieved multiplatinum status and is recognized as one of the most important works in the synth-pop genre. As a solo artist Almond has maintained a strong cult following and has had critical and commercial success over nearly three decades.
