General David Monroe Shoup, Hon. DSO (December 30, 1904 – January 13, 1983) was a World War II Medal of Honor recipient and the twenty-second Commandant of the United States Marine Corps (January 1, 1960–December 31, 1963). After his retirement, he was a vocal critic of the Vietnam War.
